Good Day Atlanta recently caught up with Darla Dillon, Cortland Design’s VP of Interior Design and Architecture, to learn new ways to organize your closet and maximize space. Whether you’re working with a large or small space, these interior design tips will help you make your closet a favorite area in your home.
Here are some of Darla’s tips for organizing your closet and making the most out of your space:
1. Design with purpose: Your closet should be functional, so when it’s time to pull together your look for work or a date, you’ll find the experience enjoyable rather than a hassle.
2. Use storage boxes and baskets: Perfect for storing scarves, workout clothes, accessories, and more, boxes and baskets keep your space organized and looking neat.
3. Maximize your space: In smaller closets, every inch of space is valuable so don’t let it go to waste. Try using your wall to hang hats, belts, and jewelry organizers. Remember to use the space under your bed for storing seasonal clothing, extra shoes, and other items that don’t get worn on a regular basis.
4. Add your personality: Spice things up a bit and add personal touches like artwork, wallpaper, and mirrors. Treat your closet like an additional space to decorate, and you can transform it into the walk-in closet of your dreams.
